What’s in my makeup bag

It’s been a long time. Let’s leave it at that.

Sunshine always gives me motivation. I don’t know why, it just does. So, after emptying my makeup bag on the floor for an Instagram snap (standard), I thought I’d go a step further and blog about what’s inside.

First off, the makeup bag is a Zoeva brush bag I got a brush set in for Christmas. It’s a perfect size as everything fits in, and it doesn’t squish the hell out of my favourite brushes. Double winrar.

All about the base

I’ve been using the Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser in Nude for a few years now. It’s light and gives a barely there coverage, perfect for during the day when I try (and fail) to pretend I’m natural. Ha!

I’ve tried hundreds of concealers, both high street and high end, and I always go back to the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer. It’s cheap as chips (no, really), super creamy and has great coverage without being cakey.

Fleek cheeks

To give my moonface some shape, I use the Sleek Makeup Face Contour Kit in medium. This is a ‘drugstore brand’ and it’s great value. The contour colour is really cool and blends well without going patchy. The highlight is a little more glitter than shimmer, but it’s alright if you’re in a hurry.

For fleek cheeks I use the Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfecter highlighter in Champagne Pop. Oh my days! This stuff was supposed to be my ‘special occasions’ highlight but crept into my daily makeup and I’m not ready to evict it. This stuff is creamy, golden heaven. Just go buy it now.

A new addition to my collection is the Mac Sheertone Blush in Peaches. A great natural powder that adds healthy colour to the skin. Impossible to add to much, just dead nice.

Brows on point

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is the best brow pencil ever. It’s not too waxy, has great lasting power and looks really natural. I love ashy shades for my brows over reddish colours, and this fits the bill. Plus, it has a spoolly!

To fix them bushy babes, I use the L’oreal Brow Artist Plumper gel. To be honest, this stuff isn’t great but it’s in my head that a clear gel, is a clear gel. If I’m wrong, and you have the perfect brow gel, leave a comment below.

‘dem eyes

Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics palette is my ‘go-to’ palette for everyday wear. Matte eyeshadow perfection, it’s creamy, dreamy and blends perfectly. Yum.

If I’m feeling bold (and have enough time) I like to open my eyes up with a feline flick. This Soap and Glory Supercat pen is pretty nifty to apply and lasts ages.

For me, mascara is something I usually buy cheap. I’ve never met a high end mascara I get along with. This Benefit They’re Real number is okay, but I’m not paying £20 for it again when it runs out. Soz…

Pout

I love bright lips, but on a normal day it annoys me. I make faces when I’m concentrating and I always end up with lipstick on my chin at work – hence why I always reach for this nude number. It’s Maybelline Colour Sensational in 620 Pink Brown and it’s a moisturising nude lippie that I can pop on without a mirror. Happy days!
